I have finally made it to the end of my journey in 2.0. In my search I have wandered down many paths arriving at places I have never been before. At first I was overwhelmed by the task & I thought I would never make it. I have learnt many new skills and discovered new things during my journey which I must admit before this excercise I had no knowledge of.
I feel only certain parts of 2.0 could be used in our system at this time but as our Library Users become more at home with new technology new doors could be opened.
Success of Library 2.0 in Sutherland Libaries will depend mainly on the back up that we would need from the IT people.
Below is a quote that I feel explains Library 2.0
The principles of Library 2.0 seek to put users in touch with information and entertainment wherever they may be, breaking down the barriers of space, time and outdated policy. It is a user-centered paradigm focusing on knowledge, experience, collaboration, the creation of new content and encouraging the heart.

Myspace, Facebook and Social Networks
Myspace/Facebook: do we really need them in the Library? When you look at the sites they are very interesting and contain a lot of information that would have to be monitered so the younger library users would be protected.Young adults don't seem to worry about privacy as our older library users would.
When looking at the sites I thought there was to much personal information. I can see why young adults do use it and it may be a way to keep young people using the library. If it was to be used in the library you would have to have a rule for sound control as I have found out, you sometimes get library users who ask you to keep the children quiet.
I do agree with Casey Bisson we should build services that interoperate with the internet that people are using, as long as controls are put in place so that unsuitable information is not available.

Podcasts & Audio Books
Podcasts
Our SSC Library podcast of Marcus Zusak shows how podcasts can be useful in Libraries.I feel that podcasts at the moment are more for entertainment until the older clients become use to new technology.
Audio Books
LibriVox volunteers record chapters of books in the public domain and release the audio files back onto the net. Our goal is to make all public domain books available as free audio books.
I listened to "The Adventure of the Empty House, part 1" from the return of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle & found it very enteraining

You Tube
This is a fun site that links people with both old and new adventures. You can view videos on anything you wish.I have chosen this video so I could share my experience with others.
Wikis
Having looked around Wikis I have found that there is alot of information out there at our fingertips and by using Sandbox shows us that we cannot be sure if all the content in Wiki is true.
I enjoyed looking at iread Iwoa Librarians( http://iread.pbwiki.com/). Their fiction is in Genre (after working with that style of shelving) makes it easier for patrons to find items of interest.
Library Success is a excellent site to go to for imformation on all aspects of Library Practice.
I did manage to put my blog to favourite blogs & also a entry in my Favourite Vacation Spots

Del.icio.us
Today I have been exploring 'Del.icio.us,' which is a social bookmarking tool.
Once you sign up, you have access to your own webpage, which is pretty much a list of your favourite websites.
The difference between Del.icio.us and something like 'favourites' or 'bookmarks' on your web browser is that you can access Del.icio.us from any computer.
You can learn more about Del.icio.us here: http://del.icio.us/
